AEHL January Wrap-Up

As teams head into the tail end of the 2021-22 Alberta Elite Hockey League season, the Fort Saskatchewan U18 AAA Rangers, CAC U16 AAA, and St. Albert U15 AAA Sabres all lead their respective leagues.

U18 AAA

At the end of January, the U18 AAA standings are:

Calgary NW Flames forward Jagger Tapper and Airdrie forward Cooper Brown are tied for the lead league with 43 points each, while Brown’s teammate, Matthias Bessey, leads the way in assists with 28.

U18 AAA Player Stats >

In goal, Fort Sask netminder Carson Burkart is tied with teammate Liam Bechtold and Calgary Buffaloes goaltender Nicholas Jones with 12 wins. Jones also leads the way with a 1.54 GAA and five shutouts, while Lethbridge’s Erick Roest boasts the best SV% (.946).

CAC forward Lynden Donald-Gorman continues to lead the league in goals (28) and points (51), while St. Albert forward Cash Carter once again heads into a new month as the league-leader in assists (28).

U16 AAA Player Stats >

Three goaltender are currently tied for the league lead with 12 wins apiece: St. Albert’s Hudson Sedo, Calgary Royals netminder Maxwell Geib, and CAC goalie Joshua Banini. Sedo continues to pace the league with a 1.66 GAA, while Sherwood Park’s Cainwyn Clark has a league-best .942 SV%. Sedo and Clark are tied atop the league with three shutouts each.

Airdrie’s Corbin Sanderman leads all goaltenders with 13 wins, while St. Albert netminder Finn Werner, who is yet to lose this season with a 11-0-1 record, holds the best GAA (1.57) and SV% (940). Fort Sask netminder Owen Callicott currently leads the league with 3 shutouts in 10 games.
