AEHL U18 AAA Playoffs – Division Finals Recap

The AEHL U18 AAA Division Finals delivered two dramatic best-of-five series, with both matchups going the distance as teams battled for a spot in the league championship. In the end, the Edmonton Jr. Oilers Blue and Calgary Northstars completed impressive comebacks to punch their tickets to the finals.

North Division Final

Edmonton Jr. Oilers Blue vs Fort Saskatchewan Rangers

The Edmonton Jr. Oilers Blue showed resilience, battling back from a 2–0 series deficit to defeat the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers in five games.

Fort Saskatchewan opened the series strong with a 3–0 win in Game 1 followed by a tight 3–2 victory in Game 2. Facing elimination, the Jr. Oilers responded with a 6–3 win in Game 3 before grinding out a 3–2 victory in Game 4 to even the series.

In the deciding Game 5, Edmonton delivered their most complete performance of the series, earning a dominant 8–1 win to secure the comeback and advance to the league finals.

This marks the first AEHL U18 AAA league finals appearance for the Edmonton Jr. Oilers Blue.

South Division Final

Calgary NW Flames vs Calgary Northstars

The Calgary Northstars also completed a reverse sweep, overcoming a 2–0 series deficit against the Calgary NW Flames to win the series in five games.

The Flames took control early with a 6–4 win in Game 1 and a 6–3 victory in Game 2. In Game 3, the Northstars found a turning point, battling back in a back-and-forth contest to tie the game in the third period before earning a crucial overtime win.

Carrying that momentum forward, Calgary secured a 2–1 victory in Game 4 to even the series before closing it out with a 5–2 win in Game 5.

The Northstars advance to their first league finals appearance since 2003, when they went on to win both the league championship and the Telus Cup.

League Championship Preview

The Edmonton Jr. Oilers Blue and Calgary Northstars will now meet in the AEHL U18 AAA League Championship series beginning March 20.

The series will be a best of five, with the winner advancing to the Pacific Regional Championships for a chance to earn a spot at the 2026 Telus Cup.

With both finalists riding the momentum of comeback series wins, the stage is set for a highly competitive AEHL U18 AAA League Championship.
